This is an important use case and we definitely want to support it. IMO, individuals should be able to easily backup all their events, along with all external events that are of interest to them (bookmarks, lists, etc.). We will add client features to enable this.

In addition, people who want to publish to self-hosted (potentially low-powered) relays should still be able to reach millions of users. Our caching service already enables that. As long as your relay is publicly accessible and you have it configured in your relay list, our caching service should detect it and cache its content for mass consumption.
