GrassFedBitcoin (nprofile…eu8h) great listen, agree with many points. But in the end, instead of thinking about introducing a new features to the base layer protocol we should be optimizing it. Close loopholes allowing spam. That should be the priority. There are always unintendent consequences of these updates and even segwit is a good example of it. You may even argue segwit was a mistake because of it. Is lightning the solution to the problem we have been hoping for? I would argue not really when you consider what it takes and costs to setup a lighting node with reliable inbound liquidity.
