Open protocols can be a little messy sometimes. I do think that some of the pushback against things like bridgy is a little overblown. It's replicating content in the exact same way as as other activity pub servers, and even if I edit or delete my posts/account my content is going to still float around on the fediverse in it's original form. Not that anybody's wrong for disliking aspects of it though, and I can definitely see where somebody could be doing a double take when they expected it to be on activity pub but then see it somewhere else.
