I need to fly to see my ailing mother and I haven't been on a plane in many years.

I also have decided to stop using the middle man service I used to use for this kind of thing.

Does anyone have suggestions for getting a flight scheduled? For instance, is it a good idea to simply contact the most relevant airline directly?
