Adding it yourself is not particularly hard, if you have some basic computer skills. But not everyone does, and I like to suggest a Linux distribution that will benefit most people.
By most, I mean, that 1 to 1 Windows-like experience. The honest truth is, if Microsoft had focused more on stability, safety and security, without trying to invade everyone's privacy, and without adding bloated features no one asked for, and did not bundle ads, spyware, and rootkits, it would be a good operating system. Windows dominated the user marketplace, because they did offer a product most people could feel good using, once upon a time.
Linux, today, can be that operating system. It is why I recommend, Ultramarine Linux, because out of the box, it gives that 1 to 1 Windows-like experience. You do not need to "work" to use your computer, it will generally work out of the box for most people.
