I keep hearing radical feminists say that radical feminism is an inherently leftwing movement, which I take to mean that it must support leftwing economic policies such as NHS, welfare, etc.

I’m uncomfortable with this because it seems like there’s too much built in that isn’t about women’s sovereignty and liberation. That’s not to say that leftist economics might not be a good way to achieve that, but it seems like something that should be debatable. Perhaps the argument could be made, for example, that the best thing to do is to shrink government to that proverbial size when it can be drowned in a bathtub, and for women to come together in voluntary associations for mutual benefit. Just maybe. At least, it seems that those who believe this should still be considered radical feminists.

Was this a done deal a long time ago, before I showed up to pay attention? Are there any dissenting voices in this?
