A big aspect was leaves and stuff on their bare feet, but also the whole thing was cloudy afterwards. It is not like they are "unclean" but also not like they showered before getting in. Maybe it is some "tipping point" of chemicals - I have not clue - hot tub chemistry is voodoo. But even a few hours later it was cloudy and bitty.
