Today’s movie is Nocturne (2020) starring Sydney Sweeney, Madison Iseman, and Jacques Colimon. This is the fourth entry in the Welcome to the Blumhouse series.
Here’s the description:
Welcome to the Blumhouse! Inside the halls of an elite arts academy, a timid music student begins to outshine her more accomplished and outgoing twin sister when she discovers a mysterious notebook belonging to a recently deceased classmate.
This is a horror movie, but one that seems to dip its toes in art-house.
The movie poster says this is from the producers of Get Out, Sharp Objects, and Whiplash. Because of this, my expectations are high. It is strange, though, that writer and director Zu Quirke doesn’t even have a Wikipedia entry.
iMDB gives this a 5.7 which indicates that this is better than average, though not necessarily a “must see”. But again, iMDB is often wrong. This is why I watch the movies.
Either way, I’ happy to be taken a break from the rom-com and moving into horror territory.
