The majority of people browse the web without an ad blocker. They see obtrusive ads, newsletter popups, cookie notices. These things are holding the web back just like popups did in the ’00s. This is driving people away from the web platform to apps.

If you work on the web platform or have the power to change this behavior for your corner of the web, I strongly encourage you to confront this issue instead of just installing an ad blocker to ignore it.
