On a walk from Externsteine to Falkenburg we gained some elevation for views over the local landscape around Holzhausen-Externsteine (📷1). Continuing on through the forest, several Damhirsch | Dama dama | European fallow deer crossed the path in front of us (📷2). At Falkenburg is the ruin of a medieval hill-top castle (📷3); in the distance is Hermannsdenkmal. The nearby town of Horn includes old houses with highly decorated facades (📷4).
