But people do donate to humanitarian causes to protect fundamental human rights and to non-profit organizations, including in the world of software (think of the many foundations that make free and open source software and collect donations).
Obviously, accepting donations in more forms would be beneficial: look at the Blender Foundations, which accepts fiat as well as multiple cryptocurrencies.
But people on Nostr are focused on money, and Bitcoin in particular, so I don't expect things to work well soon without monetary and Bitcoin-related incentives. Nostr will remain shit for as long as it's Bitcoin focused.
