"losing" followers that way is counterintuitive behavior though, don't blame the user. This feature wouldn't even need relay-to-relay interaction (some relays already do that afaik btw), just local storage. The information who follows you is stored locally and isn't changed unless you get a definite message that someone unfollowed you.
