why do i want to buy a house in america in 2025?
it's called stability. the less people who are able to frustrate my goals and exploit my weaknesses the better. the next years will likely be rough, but land is eternal, and if you take care of your goddamn house, it will outlast you (nuclear war excluded).
it cannot be understated that the LESS third parties (and therefore variables) you have in your life, the better. it's why I'm anti-cloud and have a full rack of servers. it's why I prefer my own water and sewer systems. it's why I want solar, and maintain 15kWh+ of batteries already.
i don't want to be ENTIRELY off grid, but i want to start with the simple stuff until the cost/benefit scales tip, and then i'll stop. but I will say my stopping point is a lot higher than most suburban american sellouts because I want to be *away* from everyone so I can work on what I want to work on and live free from interruption or distraction.
