It's not just that he was black. It's mostly that he stabbed three innocent little girls at a dance class.
The police do not do a very good job when it comes to protecting white, working class communities, (Especially in the north, and especially the girls: Rotherham, Rochdale, Keighley...) but are quick to paint them as right wing and stupid when they get angry about it.
Obviously some of what happened yesterday was caused by racists latching onto these events to start trouble, but there's also a lot of justified frustration and rage.
