I don't think I'm a free software zealot. I totally understand that when I'm working with other people they have needs that make using proprietary software as a group a better choice. I do this regularly.
When I'm volunteering, and I'm assigned work that only I'm working on I'm going to use free software though. It's kind of annoying when I'm told I should be using Adobe products to make things when I'm outputting PDFs, and the only reason they know I'm not using Adobe is because I mentioned how annoying it was that past assets weren't stored in inter-operable formats.
