I was dealing with a similar issue on Iris.to web-app of it showing "trending posts" that I don't want to see. If you have the uBlock Origin plugin installed in your browser you can use the "block element feature" to "hide" aspects of websites that you don't like. I've found this really helpful to improve websites by removing things like "trending posts, comment feeds, or other annoyances" that are meant to click-baity or suck you in.
