My dad died yesterday.

I know none of the folks here knew him.

He was a kind man with bad politics, which put a wedge between us. He was also a funny storyteller, a great photographer, a historian, a traveler, a gun collector, and the person whose approval I wanted most growing up and still cared about as an adult even though it was much harder to come by.

My brother says he was proud, even if he never said as much to me. I hope so.
