At what point does a game console, system or game itself get considered "retro"?

For example is when a console is simply no longer produced (which could theoretically mean the NES and Genesis are still technically "modern" consoles, because their still made both officially and semi officially in developing markets. Like Brazil where the Genesis is still popular thanks to market specifics.).

Or is when there's no games being made for that console? Which would mean the Wii has probably only recently started becoming "retro" as that thing still got Just Dance in the 2020s, but the Xbox 360 and PS3 were considered retro a lot further back despite being older.

What if it's based on the difference of time between what is and isn't considered retro, for example Cave Story was heavily inspired by then considered to be retro games (Metroid, and Castlevania) which were both 18 years old at the time. Cave Story is now 20 years old at this point, older than the games themselves that inspired Cave Story at the time of it's development?

Or is it simply whatever has hit the nostalgia cycle, the games that one would have grown up as children who are now adults. Which would mean that at this point, games that Gen Z grew up with like Minecraft and Terraria would be considered retro?

Or maybe it's just the "vibe" of the game, graphics resembling something from a bygone era. Gameplay of the simpler sort.
