I’ve done Irish showers (start cold, end hot) for the last 7 years. That voluntary step into cold water blasting my face is the hardest thing I do every morning but swallowing that toad is my way of starting the day with a W.
But this year I bought an Ice Pod and started doing ice plunges. Started at 35 degrees Fahrenheit and gradually moved down. Found my limit after literally breaking the ice one morning and ice plunging in 32 (0 C) water for 90 seconds.
Listen: My body was on absolute FIRE afterwards (one of the best feelings EVER) for a good 5 minutes but my fingers were numb for 12 hours.
So, everything in moderation (including moderation) but I’m still convinced heat/cold therapy is one of the best protocols for cardiovascular health and longevity.
