I caught one of the best solar halos I've ever seen in Oregon this morning in the coast range. It happens when sunlight hits ice crystals in the atmosphere, and I usually think of it as a winter thing, not something for late April. The boundary was this clear and sharp in real life, like a portal opening up in the sky, then fading a few minutes later.
