Actually, it seems that KDE made Plasma 6 panels a lot more sensible to work with. You are no longer forced to work with unreliable and slow sliders to change size and can choose two most sensible options in the drop-down menu.
Also they no longer overlap in corners when you want two full-sized panels on top/bottom and left/right.
