If no one ever called anyone "the father of *" where * is some area of study or field ever again... I would be so happy. It always gives me the creeps when people use that turn of phrase.
Just say "a founding figure in *" or "a leader in laying the foundations of *" or really anything else.
Heck, why not call them "the most successful alate of *" ?
