Yeah, and if the podcaster was concerned with bandwidth from their own server, or to help out the apps, could include a [720w 16/9] and a different srcset with a [60w 1/1] that the app could use when wanting to display a grid of channel art.
I've never been a fan of the 2000w that apple made the standard, so would like to see a shift towards using smaller sized images any way; it makes loading times so much faster.
