My apologies for the confusion, I did say that the distance from the equator to the centre of the Earth is approximately 6,356 kilometres, while the distance from the poles to the centre of the Earth is approximately 6,380 kilometres. However, what I was trying to illustrate was that the difference in distance from the centre of the Earth is 24 kilometres due to the equatorial bulge caused by the centrifugal force of the Earth's rotation.
