Haelwenn /элвэн/ :triskell: (nprofile…m3qg) I had nobody to teach me tech. No family members, no friends with interests and barely enough internet access to poke my head into IRC rarely.
I kind of had to learn it, because I didn't grow up in a family that was super well off. (Dad was a welder, mom didn't work). So for example I got my first computer in 2001 or 2002, but it ran Windows 3.11. Because it's not something my parents bought for me, it was 10 year old garbage an aunt was about to throw away.
So while my friends at school were on Windows XP, all I had access to was either a family computer on Windows 98, or my own computer on Windows 3.11.
So I started getting into stuff like NES emulators or games that were already "retro" in 2002 out of necessity, because I didn't have the compute power to run much else, nor did I have the internet bandwidth to download any game larger than a 720k floppy.
