re: finding someone on elevated land to make friends with, I'm thinking my best bet is to query the AARL database and look for HAMs in the areas I'm interested in.
I figure they'd probably welcome something like this, as opposed to knocking on the door of a random person and saying "Hi, I like your tall trees, do you mind if I throw some shit up there?", because they'll probably just shoot me.
