yes windows is a heavy operating system. if you want something light there is Android for that. the two compliment each other perfectly. i have android on Phone and Tablet and Windows on a Gaming Laptop and Xeon Workstation.
If you don't play Video Games and don't use any kind of professional software like Autodesk then i suppose you don't need Windows. But then you can just use Apple.
I haven't had a printer in 20 years. I was told in college in early 2000s that printing out information on paper was low-brow and i have accepted that concept. anybody who is unable to receive and view information digitally is too dumb for me to associate with.
there is argument to be made that Microsoft and Apple spy on you, or that they are evil monopolies ... and i would accept those arguments. but i don't accept the argument that Windows doesn't work for its intended purpose of running games and professional software.
i hope more people use Linux but i also wish they would stop lying that it is "better" than Windows. as much as i despise people who use Apple at least they don't talk about Apple as much as Linux people talk about Linux. they just pull out their $4,000 macbook that can't run any modern games or professional software and expect everybody to be impressed by how thin, metal and expensive it is.
