Time to show my achievement.
The cats broke my air humidifier (the one I used to ensure that the cat litter is humid and doesn't dust that much). The symptom was that the steam stopped emerging from the top. Yet it seemed that the device is still creating steam. On top of that, a characteristic "buzzing" stopped and the general construction suggested it might have a fan inside. So I've opened it up, and it turned out that I was right — it had a broken fan.
Unfortunately, it's not your usual fan, but one with an outlet to the side. And I had a pile of old PC fans — but well, you can adapt them. First, soldering iron and some isolation tape to join the cables and confirm that it's going to work. Then some cardboard and two-sided tape to cover the normal outlet. Finally, a burner to make a new outlet.
And this is how my air humidifier got an "AMD" branded fan.
