I want to reduce my egg cost and commercial feed reliance.
What I really need is a low-maintenance reliable protein source. Black soldier fly larvae sounds like it works well if you live in a hot climate year round, but I have four seasons.
Thinking of rearing dubia roaches (over crickets or mealworms) in bins this year. They’re slower growing, but they’re quiet, don’t stink, and have about the same protein content as crickets. I hear Hillary and Obama love these as snacks.
