That makes sense to me. Unless you build in something like fission power - the breakthrough of which always seems to be a few decades away - or space/interplanetary habituation, population decline seems to be a given.
Do you often consider it to be smooth and gradual or is there a tipping point that causes a distinct change? For instance, I could see gen Z (or maybe Alpha) who were raised on clinate change fears refusing to procreate en masse.
