An Ask Fedi for my mathematical peeps: is there a free LaTeX editor that replicates the *ease* of using Overleaf?

On Overleaf, I can compile the LaTeX just by pressing Ctrl+S (or there's a button on the UI that does the same thing, I think); downloading the PDF is another button click; uploading, arranging, and accessing all the files in a project is super easy; and so on and so forth. Overleaf frees me to think about the LaTeX (and indeed the mathematics) and makes bringing it to life effortless.

However, as things stand, Overleaf are going to squeeze a subscription out of me, and I'm going to end up paying it, because every time I download a free editor onto my machine, it's an absolute fucker to use. None of them ever seem to have been designed to have a nice user experience, and it's this that I would be paying for if and when Overleaf extorts money from me.

So I throw it open to you: is there a free LaTeX editor with a comparably easy (facile even) user experience to Overleaf so that spending money on them is unnecessary?

Boost appreciated, thanks.
