I love reading short stories, there's something about the skill required to craft a tale that has weight, poignancy and direction in so few words that I really admire.
Kate Atkinson's collection of witty, spiky, fantastical stories, Normal Rules Don't Apply, was such a welcome discovery, filled with clever plots and ideas and delivered with such a deft touch.
I highly recommend this collection and will be searching out more of her work as a result of reading it.
