It was eye opening watching Oprah from Australia. Her perspective was as an individual that no matter how difficult your circumstances you could rise above and become wealthy and successful just by hard graft. Never any questions about minimum wages or providing a public health system. This may have changed over the years l stopped watching her. Back in the day in Australia If you stuffed up society gave you a second chance, good mature age education, more than adequate public health care, housing, a chance to get back on your feet. I thought her ideas reflected the American emphasis on individuals, where here governments helped more. Unfortunately it's harder here now especially for our younger generation.
