NEW: The CDC has confirmed the first reported H5N1 /bird flu infection in a child in California. The child experienced mild symptoms & has received flu antivirals. The child also tested positive for another virus. CDPH is looking into the child’s poss #h5n1 exposure source.  

Notably ALL household members reported having symptoms. Test results were negative for H5 bird flu, and “some family members were positive for the same common respiratory viruses as the child.” Contact tracing 1/2
