Some thoughts I had today about President Carter: President Carter did some exemplary things as president: he appointed RBG to SCOTUS, brokered the Camp David Agreement between Israel & Egypt, and appointed a racially diverse federal judiciary, among other wonderful things. Of great importance to Alaskans and the world, President Carter signed ANILCA (Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act), which expanded the Public Land Order consisting of nearly 9 million acres established by Eisenhower to 19 million acres and renamed the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge or ANWR. His post-presidency was, I think, where we got to see Jimmy Carter, the humanitarian, Christian, and peace-maker. He walked the walk. I will forever be grateful to Jimmy Carter for serving in the US military, as Governor of GA, and as POTUS. He was truly one in a million and will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace, good sir.
