I'm fixing my fridge myself (new control board) and the evaporator was encased in a block of ice, so I bought a steam cleaner (the kind that squirts a steam jet) and omg.
it takes HOURS if not a whole day to defrost naturally; ten minutes with the steamer and it was done.
