There are problems with the SAT. It never indicated how well a student would do in college. What did show that was how well a student performed in high school. It's why the SAT went to the way side for many institutions.
From the tales my wife gives and from what I've heard elsewhere, high school curriculum has had to be dumbed down. It's not the same quality of learners this year that she had 20 years ago. School districts are just pushing these kids through without the skills.
