Decades ago, I had a conversation with film composer Mark Isham about his creative process. He said he sometimes takes off his headphones, turns off the sound from his keyboard, and just records himself banging away at the keys. (He's a trained pianist, so his banging is informed, skilled banging.) He said he'd then listen to what he just recorded and look for ideas.
That has become my #writing approach to story development, and I love it.
