Maybe what we really need to get Linux desktop to the people is a literal Chrome OS clone? Not as in "web browser as a primary application runtime", but rather "self-contained system, which ran run applications from isolated runtimes such as Flatpak or Wine prefixes, with development stuff being done in Docker"...
I'm kinda tired of that "Linux desktop" discourse - this simply can't be fixed as long as developers need to support multiple moving targets (distributions), each with it's own quirks.
