Wherever a person lives on this globe, tomorrow will start the new year, 2024. But what is truly tragic is that most people on the globe do not realize that the fully correct way to write the date is to write it ‘A.D. 2024.’
The A.D. stands for ‘anno domini’ – a Latin phrase meaning, ‘(The) Year of the Lord.’ In other words, tomorrow is 2,024 years since Jesus was born.
2024 years ago, Almighty God, the Creator of the universe -- YOUR creator and mine -- 2024 years ago God stepped out of eternity and into time. He stepped out of eternity to be conceived in the virgin womb of teenage Jewish girl.
Why did he do that? He tells us again and again throughout His holy word we call the Bible. He did it to save humanity from the ravages of sin – both the earthly and the eternal ravages of sin.
And it does not matter whether a person is a Jew, or Gentile, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, agnostic, Muslim – it does not matter because beginning tomorrow every document, legal or otherwise, every document that will be signed in the next 365 days will be dated in FORCED acknowledgment of the day God stepped became human.
Every document. Every check. Every contract. Every letter. Every piece of money printed or coined this year. Wherever we find a date we will find the world has been FORCED by God Himself to acknowledge that the Creator stepped into time and space in the form of a baby named Jesus.
Jesus. Who as a man substituted Himself to bear the full wrath of God because of OUR sins. He then died on that cross and was buried – and then rose again on the third day, because death could not hold God. And all who belong to God through Jesus will also rise from the dead to eternal life.
And this is God's unalterable promise to all humanity who believe what God did for them: Total forgiveness of sins, new life and new hope to those who come to Him by obedient faith in Christ in this year, A.D. 2024.
