Someone who feels they are "acting" through life is going to see everyone else as actors, playing a role, inauthentic. No matter how authentic a person is, this kind of person will see it all as an act.

So maybe it's not so much that they don't see others as "real people," maybe they see everyone as characters, like the real personhood of the person is abstracted by their fakeness. When they remorselessly cause harm, it's because they think they're only hurting the mask, not the mask-wearer. They deserve it anyway because they were trying to get the advantage.

The more authentic a person is, the more this type of person will be enraged by it, because they see it as an unfair advantage, because that person can just wear a mask that gives them all these powers (sympathy, respect, influence), a mask that is unavailable to them because of The Rules. They feel justified in taking *back* the advantage, by any means.
