I'll offer up a confession that will surely lose me some nerd cred, but I've mostly lost interest in playing games older than the Gamecube. I have nostalgia for a lot of the older stuff but I find that I don't have the patience to actually enjoy 8- and 16-bit games anymore (and only a select few N64 games).
I don't have the time to pick a 16-bit game and just stick to it until I "get good" enough to enjoy it. This was just far easier when I was a kid with like 3 games total.
