The concept of unfake-able engagement makes sense to me. I don't think it's bullet-proof, but I definitely understand the notion behind that idea.
Helps weed out the bots.
I just don't know about introducing money into social interactions. I think money detracts from the value of other forms of engagement. A better way to show someone you value their post might be to quote-share it with some verbal accolades. In some ways, I think that could show more support than a zap.
Never forget that Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Youtube et. al were all pretty cool places before advertising started happening on the platforms.
I fear that zaps might turn all of us into “advertisers” in one way or another. And thats why I bring all of this up.
