Destigmatizing *being* a map cannot come at the cost of strengthening other forms of oppression (e.g., perpetuating the "inherent harm" myth, continuing to restrict young people's online activity, etc, see: Prostasia), all forms of oppression do not need to (and likely won't) be dismantled together, but one remaining static while another progresses is different from the former regressing while the latter progresses. Accepting short term wins is pragmatic, but doing so at the cost of pushing the long term goal further away is not, it's self destructive.
