Why do today’s wars last longer than yesterday’s wars?
Wars are incredibly expensive.
In the past, if governments wanted to wage wars, they needed to borrow money from their citizens.
So, if the wars were considered by the people to be unjust, the people wouldn’t lend much money to their governments.
Even if the wars were just, the people only had so much money to lend out.
That’s why wars back then generally lasted a few years at most.
They simply ran out of money.
But in today’s world, governments have the ability to print money.
Governments no longer need to care what the people think. They no longer need to care if the wars they want to wage are just.
Governments can easily finance the wars through money printing.
This is one reason why today’s wars last so much longer than yesterday’s wars.
