Mitra is especially simple and easy to setup and manage. I run Prosody locally as well. I much prefer local, traditional installations vs. more abstract, containerized options like Docker or Flatpak. However, from experience running NextCloud as a local install on its own VM, goddamn that software is just a convoluted mess. And, it's a lot of packages and garbage that I don't want littering my entire system. Having all those moving parts locked inside a virtual appliance is the way to go with this one……
