We may have to accept that the future of censorship-resistant micropayments requires LSPs and self-hosted nodes, and that the painful reality is not everyone will (or deserves to) make it. As someone who tried and failed to spin up his own node and then ran out of the disposable time and money to pursue it further, I don't say this lightly.
Then again, we're still early and there's so much that can be done to simplify this stuff for normies. Case in point, there's a guy on the TSP expert council who's made a career out of traveling the country helping people implement permaculture on their homesteads. Is there a Nick Ferguson for self-hosted Lightning nodes? I'm sure there will be if there isn't already.
