Why don't we have more "build-your-own-x" libraries for linux desktops? The only kinds I can think of are compositor libraries (wlroots, smithay, etc.) and login manager handlers (greetd).

We should have "build-your-own-xdg-portals impl" libraries, and "build-your-own-app-store", etc...

Would help a lot of smaller desktop environments reduce duplicated work building their own file managers, app stores, image viewers, portals, etc.
