Soil Exporting
A 1981 USDA report made evident that 40 years after the Dust Bowl, America continued losing soil at an alarming rate. In the 1970s the US was losing 4 billion tons of soil per annum - 1 billion tons more per year than in the 1930's (The Dust Bowl years).
The soil loss is directly caused by 1970s policies encouraging production for export. As prices fell due to more commodities sold on the open market we produced more to make up revenue. It's a vicious cycle that has 2 victims: US Soil and the US Citizen.
