Bluesky has much more complex decentralization systems in place then mastodon.
Like the Moderation is decuplet from the instance that hosts your profile and status data etc.
The difference for me at least is that Bluesky has made an tremendous effort in hiding the decentralization aspects.
For example you can have different algorithmic time lines, and they are decentralized, but you don't even recognize them as such.
Also the Moderation system is just eons better then on Mastodon.
